SONY PXW FS7 II 4K CAMERA W/EF ADAPTER Features

Capture Stunning Images with the Sony FS7 II

The Sony PXW-FS7 II expands upon the original FS7 with its XDCAM Super 35mm Camera System and 4K camera technology. The Super 35mm sensor enables you to capture shots with great cinematic depth of field, making it suitable for documentaries, commercials, and reality TV productions, just to name a few. Its durable locking E-mount is compatible with E-Mount lenses and all electronic connections. Behind the lens mount is an electronic variable ND system, which can be adjusted to allow two to seven ND stops. This provides three user presetsand makes a clear filter.

With the Sony FS7 II, your footage can be captured onto optional on-board XQD media cards in either DCI 4K or UHD 4K at up to 59.94 fps or 180 fps (HD). It can also record in MPEG-2, XAVC-I, or XAVC-L. Lastly, the ergonomic handgrip lets you easily control the camera together with an adjustable length support arm.

Key features include:

  • Super 35-Sized CMOS Sensor
  • Integrated Electronic Variable ND Filter
  • Locking E-Mount System
  • Updated Ergonomic Design
  • Up to 59.94p in DCI 4K (4096 x 2160)
  • Up to 59.94 fps in UHD
  • Up to 180 fps in HD
  • Dual XQD Memory Card Slots
  • Dual HD/3G-SDI & HDMI Output

Shoot in Full 4K Resolution with the Sony FS7 II

Size plays a huge role in determining the quality and functionality of image sensors. The Sony FS7 II utilizes the Super 35 sensor to deliver stunning bokeh shots, which is made possible by a shallow depth of field. Bokeh is frequently used to draw the viewers' attention within the frame and is simpler to accomplish using a large sensor. Moreover, due to its large size, low-light sensitivity is improved, image noise is reduced, and the field of view is widened for focal length lenses.

The sensor harnesses 11.6 million total pixels and 8.8 million effective pixels to deliver stunning full 4K resolution. The ISO 2000 sensitivity allows shots to look good even after sunset, and the 14 stops of exposure latitude provide optimal grayscale rendition. With the Sony Exmor CMOS, the FS7 II offers quick readout, which boosts frame rates up to 180 fps and minimizes image skew.

Because of the XAVC L recording system, long-form projects work great. You can record QFHD at 59.94p/50p at a maximum bit rate of 150Mbps. Recording 4K (4096x2160) at cinema standard is also possible. In HD mode, try out the grayscale rendition of 10-bit HD and uncompromised detail of 4:2:2 color at budget-friendly data rates of 50, 35, or 25Mbps. With the Sony FS7 II, a variety of color spaces are captured, which include ITU-R BT.2020 when using UHD.

Gain Better Control of Exposure with the Sony FS7 II

Sony has equipped the FS7 II with the Electronic Variable ND Filter system. Together with the large sensor, it offers better exposure control and provides presets or variable operation modes. Its variable ND mode enables you to switch up the density of the ND filter while shooting and transitioning between steps.

Because of the ND functions, the FS7 II also enables fine exposure adjustment. This is made possible by relegating the iris to set depth of field and preventing soft focus caused by diffraction. Color shift is also prevented by stacking multiple external ND filters.

You can assign three ND configurations to the filter turret because of its preset mode. This comes in handy when you need to choose the appropriate filtration for light conditions that change frequently. Moreover, this camera includes an auto ND mode where exposure can stay at a fixed level while the depth of field with iris control is being adjusted.

Stabilize Sony FS7 II Lenses with the Locking E-Mount

For improved stability, the FS7 II includes a locking E-mount that's much stronger than a standard E-mount. The safety interlock system prevents accidental disengagement of the lens. Compared to standard E-Mounts, it also reduces lens play better and the locking mount can support long cine and ENG zooms. Optional Sony, Zeiss, and other lenses from different manufacturers are also compatible with the Sony PXW-FS7 II's E-Mount. Because of the shallow flange distance of the E-Mount, mounting most 35mm lenses and other mechanical adapters is possible as well.

Experience the Ergonomically Upgraded FS7 II Handheld Camera

The FS7 is known for its innovative handheld shooting. Sony has updated the FS7 II design with an adjustable control center on a pivoting and telescoping arm called the Smart Grip. It offers a number of controls (including zoom and start/stop) that lets you configure them conveniently on the grip. The new mounting position of the FS7 II has made it even easier for you to adjust it by hand so that you can hold if even closer to your body.

For optimal flexibility, the FS7 II has a new ergonomically upgraded viewfinder. It can be offset for right- or left-eye viewing with its adjustment capabilities. Furthermore, the replaceable 15mm rod now holds the viewfinder and mic, which allows you to move the viewfinder or mic holder's position relative to the camera when you swap out the rod with another one.
