About half the size of a full-sized ALEXA, the ARRI ALEXA Mini is lightweight, versatile, and compact. It's also a great addition to the ALEXA camera range. Its compatibility with existing ALEXA cameras and related gear means you won't need to work with complicated third-party cameras for specialized shots.
In order to maintain the ARRI brand's famous rugged build in the compact and lightweight Mini, a number of unique design solutions have been added to this camera. These include lightweight carbon housing and a titanium PL mount. The camera body weighs approximately five pounds with the titanium PL lens mount, enabling you to reach greater heights when doing gimbal and aerial work with other ARRI cameras on the same production.

The ALEXA Mini boasts highly integrated and sealed electronics. Along with this, it's built with a lightweight carbon housing that includes a sturdy titanium PL mount that directly connects with the new internal sensor mount. The internal sensor mount (also fashioned from titanium) ensures a highly stable flange focal distance, even when utilizing bulky lenses.
The ALEXA Mini's symmetrical design allows you to film in any orientation andits multiple accessory points offer various mounting solutions. The lightweight body makes it easier to hold comfortably in a hand rig. Moreover, this camera is a great solution for tight shooting conditions because of its quiet operation and compact size.
The camera can be operated in different ways: as a regular camera (with the ARRI MVF-1 multi-viewfinder attached), via wireless remote control, or via an on-board monitor (controlled by the camera's user button interface on the camerabody).
Add the ALEXA MINI to Your Existing Workflow
The ARRI ALEXA camera system has become the industry gold standard because of its excellent image quality. The smaller ALEXA Mini offers the same unparalleled image quality with a more compact and lighter build. Because of its 4:3 sensor and automatic de-squeeze function, it can easily be combined with other ALEXA cameras, even on anamorphic productions. There won't be any changes in your workflows with this model, and users have the option to record ProRes or uncompressed ARRIRAW, which can either be in-camera to CFast 2.0 cards or to a specially-designed external Codex recorder.
Capture Specialized Shots with the ARRI ALEXA
The ALEXA Mini eliminates time spent on setting up third-party cameras for specialized shots. 360-degree plate shots and other multi-camera setups can be simplified by its external Codex recorder that simultaneously records image streams up to four Minis. This camera also has a maximum frame rate of 200 fps, which removes the need for another expensive high-speed camera for slow-mo shots.
The Mini eliminates the need to align images from other cameras to ALEXA's because these are all going to come from the same sensor and will share the same color space. Furthermore, the ALEXA Mini simplifies the post-production process due to its CDLs and 3D LUTs in-camera for on-set color management capabilities.
ARRI Mini: An Excellent Choice for Gimbals & Multicopters
The camera body of the ALEXA Mini includes a new set of brushless gimbals and multicopters, among other features. In the lens direction, its compact size allows the use of standard PL mount lenses on light, space-constrained aerial rigs. The dedicated specialized housings and excellent low-light performance make it the ideal camera for underwater work.

The integrated lens motor controller enables you to directly connect new active lens motors to the PL mount, which allows you to control iris, focus, and zoom settings from ARRI hand units without an external box. Android and iOS devices can control the camera remotely using its built-in Wi-Fi connectivity (no app required). Its internal ND filters are motorized and can becontrolled remotely. This enables quick responses to shifting light conditions and minimizes clutter around the camera.
Powerful ALEXA Mini Sensor
To experience the capability of the 4:3 ALEV III sensor, ARRI provides two ALEXA MINI license upgrades. This license key enables the camera to record in ProRes in 4:3, 16:9 anamorphic, or 4:3 cropped. It also allows the HD-SDI signaland viewfinder image to be de-squeezed. The camera can record 2.8K 16:9 ARRIRAW with the ARRIRAW License Key. If the two license keys are installed, Open Gate ARRIRAW recording can be done.
Future-Proof Standards with the ARRI ALEXA
The ARRI brand does not prioritize one element of image quality over others. To achieve the highest overall image quality, the brand utilizes larger and better pixels on the sensor instead of smaller pixels in large numbers. What's more, the ALEXA Mini is able to capture a wider dynamic range, lower noise, more accurate colors, and skin tones that look more naturalistic compared to other cameras. This level of quality is available in native resolution, HD, 2K, or 4K UHD outputs.
The Mini's images are uniquely suited to the next-generation of HDR displays and are expected to define the formatting standards of the future. Slow-motion shots and High Frame Rate acquisition may also mold future standards and the 0.75 to 200 fps camera speeds of the ALEXA Mini will ensure its relevance for years to come.
