- Overview -
Shoot with the Sony PXW-FS7 II for Enhanced Depth of Field, Convenience, and Functionality The Sony PXW-FS7 II is an expanded version of the original FS7 series, providing flexible 4K capabilities. The Super 35mm-sized sensor captures images with superb cinematic depth of field, making it ideal for Cinema Verite-style documentaries, commercials, reality TV shows, and corporate applications. Users will experience optimum exposure with its Electronic Variable ND offering preset or variable operation modes. Its Lever Lock-type E-mount system allows users to change lenses easily, saving time during professional shoots.
The Sony FS7 II is built with durable magnesium and designed to be comfortable without sacrificing functionality in the field. Its enhanced mechanical design allows users to set up gear more quickly and easily. This 4K camera features Sony's SmartGrip, an ergonomic handgrip with different controls for better handling and operation. The kit includes two 64GB XQD memory cards to capture and transfer high-resolution files for your projects.
Optimum Exposure with the Electronic Auto Variable ND The Sony PXW-FS7 II provides Variable ND for the best exposure without compromising other parameters. Users can change ND filter density during shoots and transition seamlessly between steps. The Auto ND mode allows auto exposure with rangefinder glass, cine lenses, and other third-party SLR lenses, offering lower distortion and higher resolution by letting you set the iris at the lens's sweet spot.
Harness the Power of the Super 35mm CMOS Sensor With its 4K Super 35 EXMOR CMOS sensor, the Sony PXW-FS7 II offers 14 stops of latitude and a wide color gamut. The camera supports two codec options: XAVC codecs (for 4K and HD) and MPEG-2 (for HD). XAVC codecs offer XAVC INTRA or XAVC Long options, allowing efficient recording or extended recording times without sacrificing video quality.
Lever Lock-Type E-Mount for More Lens Options The robust Lever Lock-type E-Mount allows easy lens mounting. Users attach lenses by holding steady and turning the collar, securing the lens to reduce image shifting during shooting. This mount supports larger lenses, including cine and ENG models, and is compatible with third-party adapters for cinema, classic rangefinder, SLR, and DSLR lenses.
Durable Build and Ergonomic Design Like the FS7 and FS5, the FS7 II’s ergonomics focus on functionality and comfort. The mechanical design is tool-less, enabling on-the-fly camera adjustments. The mic holder is repositioned to attach to a replaceable 15mm rod, allowing longer rods if needed. The multi-adjustable arm lets users position the viewfinder freely. The light magnesium body weighs about four pounds and provides precise viewfinder adjustments without compromising level positioning.
SmartGrip for Better Handling and Flexibility The upgraded design includes the SmartGrip ergonomic handgrip with Start/Stop, Zoom, and Assign controls. Users can operate the camera with the right hand while handling the lens with the left. The handgrip and arms can be adjusted to varying angles for flexibility, and the SmartGrip can be extended.
Two Sony 64GB XQD Memory Cards Included The FS7 II uses XQD memory cards for high bandwidth and resolution file transfer. The kit includes two Sony 64GB XQD G/E memory cards supporting upgraded write and read speeds (440MB/s read and 400MB/s write). These cards are suitable for 4K videos, burst photos, and RAW format workflows, compatible with many devices through PCI Express Gen 2 and USB 3.0 interfaces.
